The two students in digital marketing in Bergen have had internships at different agencies, resulting in job offers for both of them.

Malin Isaksen and Jonas Riise Johansen worked for several years in other professions before they felt ready for a career change and applied to the program in digital marketing at campus in Bergen. Now Jonas has landed a job as an SEO and Performance Advisor at Redink Vest, while Malin has been hired as a content producer at SYDE.

- After running my own business for five years and working in dog training for 14 years, it was time for a change. I have always been interested in digital marketing, and it is a field that is rapidly evolving with both new challenges and opportunities, says Jonas.

Malin already had a bachelor's degree and had worked as a store manager but felt she wanted to move away from the service industry.

- I have always loved taking photos and making videos, so when I found the program at Noroff, it hit the sweet spot. A year filled with practical, industry-related work and close supervision sounded very appealing. I felt that I lacked practical experience and wanted to learn how to actually work in the industry, she says.

Great learning environment

- How do you feel about studying digital marketing at Noroff?

- It has been fantastic, they say in unison.

- The program is very practical. You have your own student agency where you work as it is done in the industry, which is very educational. Our teacher, Kjetil, has been a very skilled teacher. We were a small class, which allowed him to tailor the instruction, follow up closely, and build a good relationship with us, says Malin.

- It has been a very nice class environment with a very down-to-earth, pedagogical, and practical teacher. What is so great about Noroff is that you actually get hands-on experience with tools and methods that are relevant to the job market, says Jonas.

Malin describes the learning environment at the campus in Bergen as incredibly good. For her, the campus was the right choice over online studies, as it suited her needs better.

- Personally, I need a place to show up and people I can collaborate with. It’s something else to be physically present in a classroom. We also had the advantage of collaborating with students from other programs, which gives good training for the job market.

Jonas works on clients' websites at Redink

During his studies, Jonas came into contact with the marketing agency Redink when they visited Noroff to present a case to the class. He was so impressed by them that he chose to reach out to explore internship opportunities.

- I wanted to gain hands-on experience as soon as possible, so I emailed them already in October, two months into the program. They responded positively, and I could start as an intern, which resulted in a job with them, says Jonas.

He continues:

- It’s mainly about being proactive and not being afraid to put yourself out there. The worst that can happen is that you get a no.

At Redink, his main tasks are to optimize clients' websites for both technical and on-page SEO, set up tracking for traffic and conversions, create and manage Google Ads, and report to clients on the results of both SEO initiatives and advertisements.

Malin is a content producer at SYDE

Malin also felt ready to gain work experience in the second semester of her studies and chose to apply for an internship.

- I was lucky that Janicke at SYDE brought me in for a meeting right away. The chemistry was great, and I started the internship in January. In May, I had a conversation with her where I asked if there were any opportunities to continue, which I was delighted to find out there were!

She believes this was crucial for her to get a permanent job and recommends others do the same.

- It’s about being proactive, getting to know people, and being visible, she says.

At SYDE, her main project is to be responsible for the cultural magazine "Ke d går i", where she will handle everything from research, interviews, advertising, to production.

- I am glad to have a project where I can be involved in the entire process, says Malin.
