For several years, Noroff has maintained a close partnership with Atea, one of Norway’s leading players in IT infrastructure. This collaboration has now led to an exciting new hire: student Marco Høyvang Stormyr has landed a job as a junior consultant.
– We’re always on the lookout for people with the right drive, says Jørn Nørvåg, Chief Consultant at Atea.
He recently visited Noroff’s campus to give a guest lecture to students – and to meet potential future colleagues.
– Noroff Delivers What We’re Looking For
Atea reached out to Noroff earlier this year in search of candidates with specific skills, particularly in areas like cybersecurity and cloud-based solutions.
– My experience with Noroff is that they continuously adjust their educational programs in line with labor market needs. They are quick to adapt to changes, and that’s something we truly value at Atea, Jørn says.
For Atea, recruitment is not just about technical competence – it’s also about passion and a willingness to learn.
– We’re looking for people who are genuinely interested in IT and security. Those with the right attitude, who are eager to learn and grow, are the ones we want on our team, he adds.
From Student to Junior Consultant
One person who met Atea’s criteria was Marco Høyvang Stormyr. He studied Network and System Administration at Noroff and is now pursuing a bachelor’s in Digital Assurance and Security Management – and he’s already gotten a foot in the door at Atea.
He landed the job after an informal video chat with Jørn on LinkedIn, where the chemistry clicked from the start.
– Jørn reached out after a recommendation from Noroff, and we had a great conversation. I got a good feeling right away and thought: This could be a perfect opportunity for me, says Marco.
After several interviews and technical tests, he was offered the job – even though he’s only in his first year of study.
– It feels incredibly exciting to get this opportunity so early. I’m already learning a lot and being challenged in ways that really help me grow professionally.
An Education for the Future
Atea and Noroff work closely together to ensure students gain the skills the industry needs. With a strong focus on practical, hands-on education and partnerships with businesses, Noroff is a natural choice for companies seeking the IT specialists of tomorrow.
– Noroff isn’t afraid to make changes to their programs to meet market demands. That’s exactly why we find their students to be relevant and in high demand, says Jørn.
Among the skills Atea is currently seeking, he highlights areas such as zero trust architecture and identity management.
International Opportunities
Atea is an international company with offices across the Nordics and the Baltics. For Marco, that means opportunities well beyond Norway’s borders.
– With us, you work in an environment with a high level of expertise and a lot of variety. We primarily communicate in English, but what matters most to us is what you can do – not what language you speak, says Jørn.
For Marco, this means being part of something bigger – and working in an environment where he can both use and further develop the skills he gained from Noroff.
The Future is Taking Shape Now
The collaboration between Noroff and Atea highlights how vital a strong connection between education and the workplace is. Through relevant study programs and hands-on projects, students gain both knowledge and experience – opening doors to exciting careers.
– For us at Atea, it’s about helping young talent grow. When we see the potential in a student like Marco, it’s both inspiring and natural to welcome him to the team, says Jørn.
