After just one year of graphic design, Tiril got her dream job: - Now I get to contribute to vital work through marketing and design. It saves lives.

Tiril Leggett (26) started her working career as a nurse, but quickly realized that shift work was not for her. After some research, she made the decision one evening to apply for graphic design at Noroff, and was accepted the very next day.
- That day, all the colors of the world suddenly seemed brighter, the sun shone extra bright, and I felt incredibly relieved.
Although she is a creative person, the idea of a permanent and secure job has always trumped other options in working life, which was one of several reasons why she chose nursing. When Tiril discovered graphic design, things took a new turn.
- When I realized what a graphic designer is - an artist in a permanent job - it was an easy choice.
Tiril has now started the second year of her education and is happy with her choice..
A Flexible Study Program
One of the reasons Tiril chose graphic design at Noroff was the possibility of taking it online. The flexibility and freedom was crucial for her to avoid having to quit her job as a nurse while pursuing her new education. As a shift worker, she can adapt her studies to her schedule and work on them even on a quiet night shift at the hospital.
- I've already finished one education, so I was keen to have a study program that gave me the flexibility to not have to get additional student loans.
Although combining a full-time job and full-time studies can be challenging, Tiril doesn't think it's been a problem.
- I've been surprisingly good and disciplined at working at home, even after a long working day. I think it's simply because it's so much fun that it feels like a hobby," she says.

The support from fellow students and teachers has made the online study experience even better.
- I'm super satisfied! I think the teachers are very skilled and good at guiding me on the right track. And I think people are good at commenting in forums and praising each other, she says.

The Dream Job
When Tiril finished her first year of graphic design, she decided to apply for a job as a graphic designer and content producer for Stiftelsen Organdonasjon. A job where she can combine knowledge from both nursing and graphic design.
- I applied for jobs for fun after finishing my first year, and by no means expected to get a job that quickly.
- Working creatively in a medically oriented organization has been the perfect transition for me.
The student life in the second year of graphic design is therefore slightly different than it was in the first year. Now she works weekdays 8-16, and can therefore structure her day as she wishes. In addition, she works with precisely what she is studying.
- The most relevant and interesting thing I've learned during my studies is strategic design! Now I work in an organization where I have to be strategic with both words and images, so it's really relevant to me.
What are your plans after you've completed your studies?
- I've already realized my dream! Now I get to contribute to vital work through marketing and design. It saves lives, she says.
