For the third consecutive year, Noroff University College has continued its upward trend in the Study Barometer, receiving high praise from students. The most satisfied students give the college an impressive 4.8 out of 5 possible points.

We have never before been so close to the top of the scale, so this is very motivating. Noroff University College aims to offer the most attractive programs in Norway. The students' feedback shows that we are on the right track, says Anita Karlsen.

She is the director of Noroff University College (NUC) and is pleased that the college is advancing on the Study Barometer for the third year in a row. The annual survey measures how satisfied Norwegian students are with the quality of their studies.

The results this year show that the students give NUC 4.1 out of 5 possible points. This corresponds to an increase in overall satisfaction of 0.1 points from last year.

Among the best in Norway

The students in Interactive Media – Animation are particularly satisfied, with a score of 4.8 in overall satisfaction. In other words, the programme is one of the best in the whole country. The bachelor's programme Interactive Media – Games also has very satisfied students and receives a score of 4.4.

–  These results are more than just numbers. They reflect the dedicated efforts of teachers and the talent of our students, says NUC’s Head of Subject for Interactive Media, Joshua Griffin. Griffin also highlights the collaboration on the learning environment as an important success factor:

I believe that listening to the students and being able to adjust teaching leads to great results. At the same time, we must continue to adapt to an ever-changing industry to maintain our relevance, says Griffin.

Emphasis on good cooperation

NUC offers six different bachelor's programs in the fields of IT and Interactive Media. The university college emphasises close collaboration with the students to ensure that the study programmes are developed, improved and retain a high level of relevance to working life.

A good collaboration with the students is especially important for us, given that we have many full-time online students, says Karlsen.

She emphasises that fostering a strong student and learning environment requires ongoing effort and development. The students at NUC provide valuable, concrete feedback – both through the Study Barometer and in other channels. Their feedback is actively incorporated into the college's quality system, which was recently approved by NOKUT.

Although we are extremely proud to have such satisfied students, it is important that we do not rest on our laurels. Our focus now is to continue to work on extracting learning from the Study Barometer, so that quality and well-being remain consistently high, says Karlsen.

Facts about the Study Barometer:

  • The Study Barometer is an annual survey from NOKUT that measures how students perceive the quality of the study programs at universities and colleges in Norway.
  • Students are asked to rate their satisfaction with their studies and study location. They give ratings between 1 and 5, where 1 is very dissatisfied and 5 is very satisfied. Scores of 4 and above are considered very good.
  • The results of the survey are used by prospective students, current students, staff, and others interested in higher education to assess and compare the quality of study programs in Norway. The response rate for Noroff University College was 50% in 2024.
