We have asked our students on Instagram what they wonder about student life at Noroff, both as campus and online students. Here you can find answers to the most frequently asked questions!

Questions about online studies

Is there any mandatory attendance for online students?

Online students at Noroff have no mandatory attendance or physical gatherings. All teaching, submissions, and exams take place online.

At the vocational school, the teaching is module-based. This means that you work with one subject at a time and complete it before moving on to the next. You choose when to work on your studies but must adhere to set deadlines for submissions to proceed to the next module.

At the university, there are live lectures streamed at set times during the week. Guidance sessions are also scheduled, where you as a student can ask questions and get help if you get stuck. All lectures are recorded, meaning you can watch them whenever you want.

Is there anything social happening for online students?

As an online student, you become part of a digital classroom environment, and there will be no physical gatherings. Therefore, the social aspect is very much up to each individual student and what they wish to achieve during their study time. Many of our online students build connections with each other through our forums and also meet physically during their free time.

Do you have any tips on how to manage time for online studies while working on the side?

As an online student, you can study whenever and wherever you want. You have full control over your own schedule, allowing you to manage your study life entirely on your own. Naturally, this requires a certain amount of self-discipline to be an online student.

Our best tip is to find a routine and structure that fits you and your everyday life. When do you have other obligations, and when during the day are you most productive? If you work during the day, for example, you could establish a routine of spending time on your studies in the afternoon or on weekends. However, if you are someone who is most productive late at night, you might also have a routine of studying after 8 PM, for example. The most important thing is to find a routine that suits you and to structure your time. Try to work on your studies every week – it is easy to fall behind.

Questions about campus studies

What does a typical week look like on campus?

As a campus student, you follow a fixed teaching schedule with lectures, group work, and activities. The actual teaching program varies somewhat from program to program, and you will receive more information about your timetable at the start of your studies.

Campus students have access to large common areas, group rooms, and a cafeteria, in addition to classrooms and auditoriums. This ensures a good setting for both academic and social interaction with fellow students.

How many days a week do you have classes?

In full-time classroom studies, there are usually four teaching days a week and one study day. Which day is designated as a study day can vary from program to program and campus to campus.

Can I borrow equipment at school?

Most Noroff campuses have equipment available for loan to their students. This usually includes equipment related to sound/music, film, and photography. You can check with your campus about how the loan process works.

Can I switch from online to campus, or the other way round?

You can switch between campus and online, as long as there is availability on campus. This can only be approved if the online student follows the same progression as the campus students.

Are students at Noroff members of a student welfare organization?

The student welfare organizations we are members of are Studentsamskipnaden i Agder (SiA), Studentsamskipnaden i Stavanger (SiS), Studentsamskipnaden i Bergen (Sammen), and Studentsamskipnaden i Oslo (SiO).
