Assistant professor in digital forensics, Yi-Ching Liao, has defended her thesis at NTNU and attained her Ph.D. in information security.
Yi-Ching Liao defended her thesis titled Process Tracking for Forensic Readiness at NTNU in Gjøvik.
Liao has looked at how companies can collect and preserve potential evidence in advance, if they were to experience a cyber attack. Perpetrators need access to system resources to commit cybercrime. Liao has researched opportunities for companies to keep low-level operating system logs. She has found ways that a company can preserve reliable evidence and thus be prepared for a possible digital investigation. This is reported by NTNU on their website.
Dr. Liao is from Taiwan. She got her master's degree in Computer Science at the University of Helsinki, and came to Norway for her Ph.D. She has taught at the bachelor program in digital forensics since September 2016.
Yi-Ching thinks studying in the nordic counties is perfect:
- In the nordic countries, the weather conditions are so bad that you have to focus on your studies, Liao says jokingly.
- What are your plans for the future?
- My plans are to keep teaching, keep studying, and keep learning.
Congratulations to Yi-Ching on her achievement!
