Mattias combines work with UX studies at Noroff and had a unique opportunity to apply his knowledge through a rewarding internship at the Swedish loan platform Enklare.
Mattias Dagquist found himself at a point in life where he wanted a career change without compromising financially. He aimed to combine a new education with full-time work. After exploring educational opportunities, he chose UX design as an online study at Noroff Vocational School.
Additionally, the study program was perceived as professional and well-structured. Mattias Dagquist
- I chose to study at Noroff because of the flexibility it offers, allowing me to study from home and plan my weeks as it suits me, Mattias explains.
He adds:
- Additionally, the study program was perceived as professional and well-structured, with international collaborations—including links to my home country, Sweden—that made it even more compelling.
Solid Preparation From Noroff
During his studies, Mattias gained a deep understanding of the entire design process and how it creates value for a business. He highlights how assignments, group work, and guidance helped build confidence in his field.
- The guidance and support throughout the course were invaluable, especially as I balanced work, studies, and personal life. The staff at Noroff were always available and ready to help, which I greatly appreciated, says the online student.
Through his studies, Mattias had the opportunity to embark on an internship at Enklare, one of Sweden’s leading loan comparison platforms. Trusted by thousands of customers every month, Enklare helps individuals make informed financial decisions by allowing them to submit a single application to multiple lenders simultaneously, enabling them to choose the best offer.

For Mattias, it became clear how well the UX design program had prepared him for the workplace as he entered as an intern at Enklare.
- I quickly discovered that many of the steps in the design process and work methods I learned during my studies were highly valuable. However, success also depends on one's own efforts. The more you engage in tasks, collaborate in group projects, and challenge yourself, the better prepared you become.
Enklare Provides a Rewarding Environment for Learning and Growth
At Enklare, Mattias was welcomed into the IT team, where he worked on everything from prototyping to improving user experience for both external customers and internal system users. Arnhem Lewis from Enklare describes how Mattias quickly became a valuable resource for the organization.
- Innovation is at the core of our business, and we continuously evolve to improve the user experience. This winter, the IT team at Enklare had the pleasure of having Mattias Dagquist as a UX intern. This is the first time we’ve had an intern on the tech side of the organization, and he has proven to be a real asset to the team, says Arnhem.
Arnhem explains that the original plan was for Mattias to support UX work and the Art Director, among others, but he quickly took on more tasks.
Something we didn't foresee was how much Mattias would also contribute in other areas. Arnhem Lewis
- Something we didn't foresee was how much Mattias would also contribute in other areas. Thanks to his efforts, we've been able to gather more information from our advisors and develop better requirements for new features. This is not only positive for the end product, but also eliminates many feedback loops that previously consumed a lot of developers' time.
Mattias' work on prototyping and designing features has been particularly valuable.
- Through rapid iterations and prototypes with low and medium fidelity, we could quickly gather feedback from our advisors and make adjustments to find the most optimal solution. At Enklare, we believe in fostering a culture where every team member has the opportunity to collaborate and make meaningful contributions to our business. Mattias’ time with us was no exception — his impact went beyond UX design, influencing processes that strengthened our product development, explains Arnhem.
An Experience that Confirmed His Educational Choice
Mattias describes a typical workday at Enklare as varied and educational.
The key to getting the most out of this internship for both parties has been treating Mattias like any other member of the team. Arnhem Lewis
- A typical day for me starts with an IT stand-up meeting, where we discuss progress, obstacles, and gain insights into the work of others that may affect my own, he says.
He continues:
- Afterwards, I usually focus on my tasks, which can involve sketching, designing, or planning features and architecture for new design initiatives. Right now, I'm working on calculators aimed at customers.
In addition to design work, Mattias worked closely with developers and internal system users such as sales and department managers to ensure clarity and compliance in projects. This has provided him with valuable experience to carry forward in his UX career.
Both Mattias and Arnhem commend the collaboration, finding that the experience exceeded their expectations.
- The key to getting the most out of this internship for both parties has been treating Mattias like any other member of the team, while ensuring frequent and open feedback without judgment, offering advice and input on his ideas, and encouraging an iterative design process, concludes Arnhem.
