The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Online Lecturer to teach Network Security and Information Security to higher education students in Norway. This is a remote, full-time position open to educators residing in Norway or South Africa, offering the opportunity to deliver impactful, real-world network security training to students across borders.

We are looking to appoint someone who is enthusiastic about learning and education in general and is open to innovative models of learning and teaching. The successful applicant will join our online teaching team. As part of a cross-campus team, they must also be willing to take direction from senior academic staff, while demonstrating initiative and self-motivation.

Course materials are supplied for students to engage with, while online teachers provide guidance and support. Instructional components include chat messaging, occasional video calls, and email communication. The position is fully online, and the applicant will work from home, communicating with students and colleagues exclusively online.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Teach through online delivery of lectures and practical (PRAX) sessions, including associated administration.
  • Develop and contribute to the maintenance of courses.
  • Design and run effective assessments, providing constructive feedback to students.
  • Provide guidance, care, and support for students, ensuring strong interpersonal and professional skills are developed.
  • Supervise student work, including personal projects, fieldwork, and industry placements.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and students through internal networks and information sharing.
  • Engage students at all levels through innovative, informative, and rigorous teaching practices.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Security, or a related field; or relevant skills (e.g., Diploma in Networking) and experience.
  • Experience in the following areas:
    • Penetration testing practice and procedures
    • Operating systems (Microsoft Servers and Linux)
    • Cisco Networking (CCNA required, CCNP advantageous)
    • Networks and Network Security
    • Programming (Python)
  • Professional-level English proficiency.

Experience we also value:

  • Previous teaching experience in higher education, preferably online.
  • Experience in the design, development, and implementation of network curricula.
  • Teaching qualification or higher education pedagogy training.
  • Norwegian language proficiency is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) such as Moodle.
  • Experience with remote teaching tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx).
  • Passion for developing network security talent and nurturing critical thinking skills.
  • Staying updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and threats.
