Less than a year ago, Christoffer Hansen was sat in a lecture hall at Noroff University College. Today, he works as a security analyst at Netsecurity.

He describes the transition as both exciting and motivating. As a student, his days were filled with new impressions and continuous learning. Now, he appreciates the stability of working life, while still having plenty of opportunities for development.

The path into digital forensics

According to Christoffer, his fascination with computers and the digital world started early and has only grown stronger. While studying for a bachelor’s degree in Information Science at the University of Bergen, he discovered the programme Digital Forensics and Incident Response at Noroff University College.

– It immediately caught my interest, and I quickly realised that this was the field I wanted to work in.

This discovery marked the beginning of his path into the digital forensics discipline, a rapidly growing area within cyber security with strong demand for skilled graduates.

A practical degree aligned with industry needs

Christoffer describes his time at Noroff as highly rewarding, both academically and socially. At the Kristiansand campus, he found an environment where it was easy to engage, feel included, and build strong connections.

The subjects were relevant and well aligned with industry expectations, and the combination of theory and hands-on work helped him apply what he learned to real-world tasks from an early stage.

– The lecturers were skilled and engaged, and they taught in a way that made the subjects genuinely interesting.

Throughout the programme, Christoffer developed a strong foundation in digital forensics and incident response. Courses such as Digital Forensic Investigation, Advanced Devices Forensics, File System Analysis and OSINT provided concrete skills he now uses daily.

Knowledge that delivers results in working life

– I learned how to apply methods and frameworks, and how to effectively search for and identify relevant information. This competence has been extremely valuable in understanding and handling real security incidents. Christoffer Hansen

In his role at Netsecurity, Christoffer works at the heart of cyber defence, the company’s Security Operations Centre (SOC). Here, he uses the knowledge and practical skills he gained during his bachelor’s degree.

His role illustrates the wide range of career opportunities available to graduates in digital forensics and incident response.

How to increase your chances of landing a cyber security job after graduation

– Be active in the student community and start building your network early. Reach out to relevant companies to ask about internships or part-time jobs, practical experience before graduating is incredibly valuable.

Gaining experience, developing contacts and showing initiative are all key factors in building a strong cyber security career.
