Are you passionate about data science and higher education? Noroff University College in Kristiansand is looking for a dedicated and forward-thinking Assistant or Associate Professor to strengthen our Bachelor in Applied Data Science program.

We are looking for candidates with strong academic or industry backgrounds who can contribute to the academic and professional development of our students. Both qualifications and relevant experience will be taken into account.

Your role:

As a faculty member in Applied Data Science, you will be involved in teaching, mentoring, curriculum development, and possibly applied research or industry collaborations. You will help shape the program and support our students' learning journey.

Main responsibilities:

  • Teach core and advanced undergraduate courses in applied data science
  • Design, manage, and evaluate technical course content
  • Supervise student projects and provide academic advising
  • Engage in applied research or collaboration with industry
  • Contribute to curriculum development and pedagogical innovation
  • Participate in academic meetings and departmental activities

Required qualifications:

  • Fluent in English
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Data Science, Computer Science, or related fields
  • Solid knowledge in programming, databases, statistics, AI/ML, and data visualization
  • Experience teaching or training in applied data science subjects
  • Familiarity with data science tools like Jupyter, pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Power BI, SQL/NoSQL

Additional requirements for Associate Professor:

  • Academic track (Førsteamanuensis): PhD in relevant field, experience in higher education, research activity, pedagogical training or willingness to obtain it
  • Professional track (Førstelektor): Extensive teaching experience, formal pedagogical training, and contribution to educational development or innovation. Industry experience may substitute publication record in some cases

Desirable experience:

  • Progress towards a PhD or comparable industry expertise
  • Proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data pipelines
  • Involvement in applied research or data-driven development projects
  • Familiarity with tools like Git, Agile workflows, and reproducible research practices
  • Formal teaching qualifications (or willingness to complete them)
